Long-term preservation

In some studies, samples are collected and stored in biobanks for long-term preservation.
Short-term storage, extending over several months, can take place in a laboratory refrigerator (with a temperature range of 2 °C to 15 °C) or a laboratory freezer (with a temperature range of -10 °C to -40 °C). Long-term storage requires an ultra-low temperature freezer, with temperatures ranging from -50 °C to -86 °C and even to -150°C.
